New OTSB Album Press Release

Tom Moore of Deltona, Ben Calhoun of Orlando and Caleb Muller, also from Orlando, have been long-time buddies, playing  local music venues around Central Florida since high school. Their first album, Songs for Your Mothers to GossipAbout was cut in 2008. The success of that album prompted the trio to launch their second album, Figure It Out! which will be released at a debut performance in DeLand on March 23.

“All the songs were written by the band over the past three or four years,” said bass/vocalist Tom Moore.
“I describe the music as indie alternative and sometimes compare it to Rogue Wave or Death Cab for Cutie,” said Moore.

The 10-track album was recorded at a studio in Lake Mary with the help of sound engineer Wesley Brach.

On The Soap Box has a large, local following. The band's fans can enjoy singing along with their well-known original song Good-Bye, included on the album, and a new song, Red Flag.

“The title track, Figure It Out! is probably the band's favorite. It has a bunch of interesting time shifts and lyrics that deal with the inner struggle for balance between humility and self-confidence,” said Moore.

On The Soap Box will debut Figure It Out at Cafe DaVinci, 112 W. Georgia Ave., DeLand on Friday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Autographed CDs will be available at the show. Admission is free.

Figure it Out! Available March 23rd!

We did it! We got the album done!

The new On the Soap Box (OTSB) album Figure It Out! will be available March 23rd!

You'll be able to download the album digitally on itunes, amazon mp3, and everywhere else online on March 23rd. But if you want a physical copy, you'll have to make it to our Album Release Show March 23rd 7:30pm @ Cafe DaVinci, 112 W Georgia Ave Deland, FL 32720.

We are only printing about 100 copies of the album so you better come to the album release show to get one. Or, if you are an out-of-towner, drop us an email and we'll let you know how you can reserve a physical copy through our website.

Cafe DaVinci is by far the hippest live music venue in downtown Deland and probably all of Volusia County. We are very excited to be playing there. Doors will open at 7:30pm. We're having a local alternative/blues project (Joel Sanchez and Ryan Romanski) open up for us. You won't want to miss them either.

We know you all have been waiting for this album for a long time, but we know you're going to love it. Hey, maybe we'll even release a track before the 23rd.....who knows.  Please help us to get the word out. Here's a link to the facebook event so that you can share it with all your friends.

See you soon!

Still at work....

So tonight we are back with mix-master Wes. As I speak, Ben is recording bass to the guitar part for "You". A little backwards yes, but it is turning out good. Recording is a tricky thing. For a band like us the hard part is getting our sound in the studio to be true what everyone loves about our live show.

Anyhow, recording is about 2/3 done on the new ten song album that for now will called "Figure it Out". Look for it...well.....fairly soon.

Keep posted for info about a live show next month.
